This month we are featuring the beauty and warmer temperatures that Southern Tybee Island offers. This Georgia barrier island has been a landing pad for campers since the 1800s! With more than three miles of wide, clean beaches, a plethora of history surrounding several American wars, many opportunities to get in tune with nature, and the chance to experience an exciting night life, there’s no question why we have chosen this location as our Hot Spot this month!

Tybee Island houses more than three miles of recently re-nourished sand beaches. Enjoy the perfect atmosphere for swimming, building sandcastles, collecting seashells, and witnessing breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. If you like the thrill of a jet ski ride or the adventures of a kayak tour, Tybee Island is the place for you as well! 

Surprisingly, one of the best ways to explore the entirety of the island is by bike; you can bring your own or rent one on the island. You might even spot dolphins along the way!

Historical Landmarks

Tybee Island is the perfect destination for history buffs due to it’s plethora of artifacts and landmarks dating back to the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the American Civil War. You can schedule a kayak tour around Cockspur Island Lighthouse (the smallest lighthouse in the state) in order to see Civil War history come to life at the Fort Pulaski National Monument.

Nature Exploration

Whether you enjoy watching birds or hiking the trails, Tybee Island offers a long list of ways that you can get in touch with nature. If you take a beach ecology tour with Tybee’s Dr. Joe Richardson, you will also have the opportunity to dig up unique fossils. Finally, your trip will not be complete without a visit to the Tybee Island Marine Science Center, which offers a hands-on experience and is especially suited for children and young visitors along for the trip.

Tybee Island offers live music and delicious food and drinks creating quite the name for themselves in the realm of an exciting night life.
