Hot Spot_MI-min

Muskegon State Park is home to three miles of breathtaking shoreline, Snug Harbor, forested dunes, sunbathing, swimming, picnicking, fishing, and more.

It’s easy to see why we choose Muskegon State Park and the Western Michigan peninsula as our focus for this month’s Hot Spot location! Read below to gather inspiration for your next Road Adventures’ getaway!

Lake Michigan

Lake Michigan has many beaches. The region is often referred to as the “Third Coast”of the United States, after those of the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The sand is often soft and off-white, known as “singing sands” because of the squeaking noise (caused by high quartz content) it emits when walked upon.

You will definitely want to set aside some time to explore this unique stretch of lake and beach during your stay!

Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park

Even a novice adventurer will love the variety of recreation options all year at the popular Muskegon Luge Adventure Sports Park. An Olympian-designed luge track, an ice skating trail through the woods, a sledding hill, cross-country ski trails, zip line runs, archery, and many more activities are part of the fun.

Algonquin Pathway

The non-motorized Algonquin Pathway wanders through a mix of hardwood and conifer forests, traversing along a network of small ridges. Located in Chippewa County, just 5 miles west of Sault Ste. Marie.

Bear Lake Tavern

Bear Lake Tavern was established in 1929. This cozy, quaint landmark sits on the Bear Lake channel, making it the perfect setting for your evening meal! They are open year-round offering tavern specialties with sea-to-table dining.

Muskegon State Park

Muskegon State Park is a public recreation area located four miles west of North Muskegon in Muskegon County, Michigan. The park’s 1,233 acres encompass two miles of sand beach on Lake Michigan and one mile of beach on Muskegon Lake.

With both modern and semi-modern campsites (some sites with 50 amp service), there is an option for every type of RV camper!
