ROAD ADVENTURES HOT SPOT: GRAND CANYON, ARIZONA
This month, our Road Adventures Hot Spot covers the beautiful landscape of Arizona. It is known that the main attraction in this iconic state is the breathtaking Grand Canyon. Being 277 river miles long and a mile deep, the Grand Canyon is a great sight to behold. Be prepared to spend a large amount of time hiking, exploring and soaking up one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World!
Grand Canyon Village
Along the South rim of the Grand Canyon lies Grand Canyon village. This quaint tourist area provides a great place to find food, shopping, and local activities! It’s also here that you can find many options for recreational activities on this list, including helicopter and hiking tours, and the newest addition, Skydiving!
Hiking
By far, one of the most popular things to do in the Grand Canyon is to hike and explore it! The Canyon offers hundreds of miles of hiking trails (most of which start from the South Rim and North Rim Villages). This magnificent activity brings out the adventurer in all of us.Â
Helicopter Tours
Why not soar over the Canyon in style? With lots of flying options available, taking a Grand Canyon helicopter tour is by far one of the best ways to see the vast Canyon from every angle!
Bright Angel Trail
What about that extra unique experience that you’ll remember forever? Head over to the Bright Angel Trail, and ride mules though the Canyon. Several options are available including a 5 1/2 hour ride, 10 1/2 mile ride, and an overnight trip!Â
Food
A trip is not complete without enjoying delicious food along the way! We recommend checking out the El Tovar Lodge Dining Room for the southwestern eats that round out an adventure in the west! This restaurant is located near the Grand Canyon Railway, which makes it a great place to visit for more thanjust the great food!
Trailer Village
Located in Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim, Trailer Village is a concessioner operated RV park with full hook-ups. It is open all year, so you can make reservations any time!Â
We highly recommend visiting this gorgeous national part! The Grand Canyon provides the perfect oasis that allows you to get away from the busy and hectic every day life and enjoy the beauty of nature and scenery to the fullest!
