Lake Erie Beaches
One of the greatest advantages of staying at Sara’s Campground is easy access to Lake Erie’s beautiful beaches. Spend the day swimming in the refreshing waters, searching for beach glass, building sandcastles, or simply soaking up the sunshine. Evening walks along the shoreline become even more memorable as the sun sets over the lake, creating spectacular colors across the horizon.
Waldameer Park & Water World
Just a short walk from the campground, Waldameer Park & Water World has been entertaining families for well over a century. The amusement park features roller coasters, family rides, kiddie attractions, and one of Pennsylvania’s most popular water parks. It’s the perfect destination for families looking to add excitement to their camping vacation.
Miles of Walking & Biking Trails
Cyclists and walkers will love the extensive trail system surrounding Presque Isle. Over 13 miles of paved multi-use trails wind throughout the peninsula, offering scenic views of forests, wetlands, beaches, and Lake Erie. The mostly flat terrain makes the trails suitable for riders and walkers of nearly every age and ability.
Fishing & Boating
Lake Erie is known as one of the premier freshwater fishing destinations in North America. Anglers can target perch, walleye, steelhead, bass, and trout throughout much of the year. Nearby marinas and boat launches also make it easy to enjoy sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or simply cruising the waters of Presque Isle Bay.
Birdwatching & Wildlife Viewing
Nature lovers flock to Presque Isle during spring and fall migrations, when hundreds of bird species stop along the peninsula. Throughout the year, visitors may also encounter deer, turtles, foxes, waterfowl, butterflies, and other wildlife while exploring the area’s diverse ecosystems.
Downtown Erie
Just minutes from the campground, downtown Erie offers a variety of attractions including museums, local boutiques, waterfront parks, seasonal festivals, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities. The nearby Bayfront District provides beautiful views of Presque Isle Bay and is a wonderful place for an evening stroll.
Sunsets on Lake Erie
Few experiences rival ending the day by watching the sun slowly disappear over Lake Erie. Sara’s Campground provides front-row seats to some of the most spectacular sunsets in Pennsylvania, making evenings around the campfire even more memorable.
