Yellowstone Llamas operates from July 1 to Sept. 30 and it offers a variety of trail options. Working with the guides, you can plan trips that will highlight everything from wildlife watching opportunities to fishing to breathtaking vistas. The llamas are the pack animals and carry the gear, leaving you unencumbered to experience the Yellowstone wilderness. The group’s expert guides head up the expedition and will lead you through some of Yellowstone’s most pristine country. They also do the cooking.
So, to be clear, this is an expedition that takes you deep into Yellowstone accompanied by llamas. And it’s amazing. According Yellowstone Llamas, anyone, including children, can lead a llama after a few minutes of basic instruction. They’re also trained not to spit at you.
Regular llama treks go for three days and two nights or four days and three nights. Groups assemble at the trailhead on the first morning and return around mid-day on the last day. But they’re flexible. Yellowstone Llamas welcomes requests for longer tours. Reservations can be set up for the 2016 season now. And rates are relatively reasonable.
