TRAVERSE CITY

NATIONAL CHERRY FESTIVAL
In the 1850s, the first cherry trees were planted in the Traverse City area, where they thrived. Commercial cherry production followed, as well as the now famous National Cherry Festival, which began in earnest in 1929 and has been growing ever since. The weeklong festival is far more than just an excuse to eat delicious cherries. There are concerts, parades, and even an air show to take in during the peak of summer. Join the nearly 500,000 attendees for food, rides, and memory making.
WINERY TOURS
Relax while you get carried from one winery to another in the Traverse City region. The area has many rentable coaches and buses, with drivers who can safely take you on a wine tour. With a healthy climate ideal for growing grapes, the northern parts of Michigan have more wineries than could fill an afternoon of raising glasses. Pick your favorite varietals and sample tasty wines that could become your new house favorites.
TALL SHIPS
Sitting in the Grand Traverse Bay, you’ll find more tall ships than any other port in Michigan. You can come aboard one schooner for a summer sail complete with food and drink. On other tall ships, learn about local maritime history, and on many other replicas, you can enjoy a dockside tour with plenty of photo opportunities. Want to do more than just be a passenger on a boat? Traverse City is also home to multiple sailing schools and a yacht club.
